On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I offer condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of longtime Gainesville attorney W. Woodrow Stewart on his recent passing.

Both in the practice of law and outside his professional capacity, Mr. Stewart personified the ideal of service to others. As a decorated Army veteran, school board chairman, church and civic leader and, most notably, as chairman of the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Board of Trustees, he touched thousands of lives in a positive way and had a lasting influence on the community as a whole.

Woodrow Stewart's distinguished record of service stands as an inspiration to all Georgia lawyers as we seek to fulfill both our duty to help others and our high calling as stewards of the justice system. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Kenneth L. Shigley
President, State Bar of Georgia, Atlanta
