Response to Darrell Newton’s letter Friday: Certainly, everyone has the right to say what he thinks, but they really should have the facts before doing so. Mr. Newton blamed President Barack Obama for withdrawing our troops from Iraq, when all he was doing was allowing the “status of forces” agreement President George W. Bush signed in 2008 to go into effect. Obama did try to renegotiate this agreement and leave a residual force there, but was told they would be subject to Iraqi criminal law with unknown consequences.
