Thank you, Paige Mellinger, for your letter to the editor “Support your library and the good it does a community” appearing Thursday in The Times.

The Hall County commissioners failed again this year to fund the library to end furloughs and keep our doors from being closed one day a month.

Your sentence, “There’s no better way to shortchange every person in your community, infants to the elderly, than to inadequately fund your public libraries,” could not have been better said or more spot-on.

If you think libraries are not important, do as Ms. Mellinger suggests: Visit a branch, the website or talk to a librarian and see what is available to you.

County commissioners, we are disappointed in your actions regarding this year’s budget and remember: We are voters.
