While it was wonderful to read in this week’s Times that Meals On Wheels has caught up with its waiting list, part of the story saddened me. When I read that “for people like (the widower featured in the story), the brief visit and chat may be the only human interaction he has in a day,” I couldn’t help but wonder: Where are the churches? It has been my experience that attending church without a family is a sure ticket to being ignored, even if you go back week after week.
