Opinion: Russia played Trump, and Republicans continue to play along

Donald Trump allowed Vlatimer Putin to play him like a musical instrument.

A young “Daddy’s money guy” (Trump) got thrown into the big boy arena with some global thugs who do this government corruption thing on the daily. He tried to rub elbows with the big boys and got sucked in, chewed up and spit out on the world stage.

Going against every U.S. intelligence agency about Russian interference with the 2016 presidential elections was the checkmate moment that Putin and Russia were betting on. When Trump announced publicly that he talked with Putin and Putin said “Russia didn't do it” so he (Trump) didn't have any reason to believe they would, Russia had won.

By whatever mouth whispered “Ukraine interfered with U.S. elections not Russia” into the president’s ear, he swallowed the bait hook, line and sinker and is paying the price for not listening to the U.S. intelligence community.

Removing Yovanovitch was a big mistake and left a huge breadcrumb as to something isn't right here.

Having Giuliani and the “three amigos” conduct or promote unofficial U.S. policy — by dangling a U.S. White House visit and U.S.-approved security assistance in return for an announcement about investigations into 2016 election meddling and “Burisma” — doesn't take a rocket scientist to know means “the Bidens” was another blunder.

Trying to big a big shot with a global terror dictator like Putin was summed up by Nancy Pelosi’s description of the president being “in over his head.” And lets not forget what Gordon Sondland said: “they were all in the loop.” Vice President Pence, Mike Pompeo and others allegedly knew and said or did nothing. Only Bolton saw the smoke and tried to warn others. They should have listened to Bolton.

And when the Republican Party continues to play dumb or ignore the obvious, they are doing a grave disservice to all the men and women of the armed forces who took an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies both foreign and domestic.

Lt. Vindman was a credible witness who was attacked for simply wearing his military uniform. Wow — how far we have strayed as Americans. Blind partisan is a cancer that makes the ones on the losing end look like ignorant, desperate, uninformed children who are totally disconnected from any form of common sense or moral dignity.

It saddens me as an American that the rest of the world gets to see just how bad this great country was and continues to be manipulated by Putin and Russia.

Who will take the mantle to truly “make America great again”?
