I was hoping that Hall County and Gainesville city will be able to save and restore our historic old courthouse.
The old courthouse has been abandoned since about 2003, and the inside is in horrible condition. The inside is deteriorating very fast and will need a lot of work. The sooner the work can start the better to stop the deterioration.
The old courthouse is a beautiful building with a large, magnificent, old-style courtroom upstairs.
The previous courthouse was destroyed by the 1936 tornado. So this is all we have left of Hall County courthouse history.
Most counties in Georgia preserve their old historic courthouses. I would hate for Hall County to be like Cobb County, Gilmer County, Gordon County, Habersham County and Hart County who have lost their old historic courthouse forever.
