Letter: Whatever candidate or party we choose, vote for our democratic freedoms

I am not a political type of person, but feel that one of the many things our voting populous should consider is the type of party, whether it is Republican or Democrat. That it still remain a party that is based on democracy. Our values and beliefs are about freedom and the Bill of Rights and our Constitution.

Our country chose democracy for freedom of rights and the basis of a new beginning, away from terrorism. We have become the most wonderful democracy in the world. Those who do not live in freedom have flocked to our shores to have that freedom, risking everything, as did our forefathers.

I say all this to remind those voters who consider any other type of government would cause a step toward terrorism. Our country has fought and died for the freedom we have. Those candidates who try to do away with that freedom is the reason we must vote for a presidential candidate that has strength, courage, values and believes in democracy. Which should be the only reason they are eligible to be a presidential candidate.

I hope everyone will vote for a strong, caring candidate who is for our Constitution and Bill of Rights and no other. Thank you for allowing me to also stress how wonderful it is to be and live in a democracy. But I was lucky and was born here.
