I am writing to send a public thank you to our Gainesville City Council, local public safety officials, local civic leaders, local high school bands and all the many others who were involved in putting on the annual Memorial Day parade Monday.

It was another splendid display of hometown patriotism and pride as so many folks came out to celebrate our freedoms and remember our fallen with our veterans.

Citizens of all backgrounds and walks of life came together on Green Street to celebrate these special things we have in common and hold dear as Americans.

Events like the Memorial Day parade are what make Gainesville a very special place to live and raise a family.

I know putting on an event of this magnitude is no easy task. As such, on behalf of the many citizens who come out each year to partake in this very special event, a heartfelt thank you goes out to all who helped make this happen!
