Letter: Support school sales tax on Tuesday
Placeholder Image

I am writing to express my support of the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax for Education that appears on Tuesday’s ballot in Gainesville and Hall County.

The one-penny education sales tax has been in effect since 1997. A “yes” vote will allow us to continue to support the education of children in Gainesville and Hall for another five-year cycle.

I want to share that the education sales tax has paid for numerous things over the past two decades that are of particular importance. We have been able to acquire land, build new schools, increase technology and heighten security.

I truly believe the one-penny sales tax is necessary to keep pace with growth and continue to provide a quality education for children and youth in this community.

I am wholeheartedly in favor of this E-SPLOST, and I hope that the voters will come out to support it on Election Day with their “yes” vote. I believe that the greater the turnout, the greater likelihood that E-SPLOST will pass. Most importantly, the children of our community deserve our show of support.
