A Clermont man died Wednesday after turning in to the path of a semitrailer on Ga. 53/Mundy Mill Road at Thurmon Tanner Parkway, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

John Keith Morrow, 49, was pronounced dead at the scene, GSP said.

Morrow was traveling west about 4:30 p.m. on Ga. 53 in a Chevrolet Silverado. The pickup failed to obey a red light and was hit by a Freightliner attempting to turn onto Thurmon Tanner Parkway from Mundy Mill Road.

The front of the semitrailer hit the left side of the pickup.

David Arnold Evans, 53, of Cornelia, was driving the Freightliner. He was injured and taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GSP said.

Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor on driver of the Chevrolet.
