A Hall County bus carrying 14 children was involved in a wreck on Browns Bridge Road this afternoon near Beach Haven Road.

The wreck happened when a vehicle tried to pass the bus as it was turning from Whipporwill Road onto Beach Haven. The Toyota Corolla driven by Wallace Thompson of Florida collided with the bus, causing the car to turn over onto its side. The driver of the Toyota was not hurt in the wreck.

The driver of the school bus, A.B. Stewart, sustained a broken right wrist, according to Mike Garner, transportation supervisor for the school system, who was on the scene after the wreck.

Hall County schools spokesman Gordon Higgins said emergency personnel assisted the bus driver. He said there were no reports of injured students.

Students from Chestatee Middle and High schools were aboard the bus when the wreck occurred near the Hall-Forsyth county line, Higgins said.

He said students who had cell phones are allowed to call their parents to come pick them up. The remainder of students were shuttled home on a different bus.
