Woods still school superintendent winner after recount

Irwin County educator Richard L. Woods was certified Thursday as winner of the Republican runoff for the nomination as state school superintendent, Secretary of State Brian Kemp said. After the recount, Woods had 199,441 votes, or 50.09 percent, to Michael L. Buck’s 198,741, or 49.91 percent. Before the recount, Woods’ margin had been 713 votes.
