A 57 year-old Forsyth County resident died Tuesday when her 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer left Ga. 369 and struck a power pole.

Autume Smith was driving east on Ga. 369 near Bannister Road at about 4:45 p.m. when her vehicle left the road and travelled more than 180 feet on the shoulder of the road before impacting with the power pole, said Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office investigator Ron Tomblin.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tomblin also said that a witness had observed Smith driving erratically. The witness was attempting to call authorities when the wreck occurred.

An investigation into the wreck is under way, Tomblin said.
