Authorities identified the woman killed in a collision with a dump truck Wednesday afternoon on Poplar Springs Road.

Syble Cooper, 69, of Flowery Branch, died after a dump truck crashed into her driver’s side door, according to Georgia State Patrol.

Cooper was driving a Honda SUV around 2 p.m. Wednesday on the South Hall road near Circassian Place.

“She was actually traveling the opposite direction of the truck,” said GSP Sgt. G.R. Harper. “(The) truck lost a front tire and came into her lane.”

Cooper took evasive action, Harper said, and was struck on the driver’s side.

GSP is still investigating on what caused the tire to malfunction on the dump truck.

“We’re just calling it rapid air loss,” Harper said.

Dump truck driver Lawrence Swikard, 49, of Gainesville was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he was in satisfactory condition Wednesday afternoon.

Swikard has been treated and released, according to hospital officials.

No charges have been filed, Harper said.
