A three-car crash Thursday in White County closed down a portion of Ga. 115 for more than an hour and resulted in one victim being flown by helicopter to an Atlanta hospital.

White County Fire Department spokeswoman Ana Newberry said the accident occurred shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday on Clarkesville Highway near Henry Nix Drive just east of Cleveland.

The driver of a passenger van was trapped in the crash and, after being freed by firefighters, was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta with serious injuries. The driver’s name and condition was not immediately available.

The passenger in the van and the driver of a second car were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
