A general schedule of when the contractor can close lanes as part of the upcoming Spout Springs Road widening was released Thursday, Sept. 26, by the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Once construction is underway, single-lane closures will be allowed:

  • 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 7 p.m. each day Mondays through Thursdays until 6 a.m. Tuesdays through Fridays.

  • 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Fridays and 8 p.m. Fridays until 9 a.m. Saturdays.

  • 8 p.m. Saturdays until 9 a.m. Sundays.

  • 7 p.m. Sundays until 6 a.m. Mondays.

Work on the roadway near schools will be limited to 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays during the school year.

The $31 million project, which will be handled by G.P.’s Enterprises, “has a 760-day completion timeline, and construction activities could begin in the next 60 days,” according to a DOT press release.

The project, which will span 3.57 miles, running from Union Circle to Interstate 985, calls for widening Spout Springs in South Hall from two to four lanes with a 20-foot raised median and sidewalks.
