A Waffle House is in the works on Thompson Bridge Road in Gainesville. The company is targeting a November opening, though that could change, spokesman Pat Warner wrote in an email Wednesday.
Will Cobb of The Norton Agency sold the empty lot at 1510 Thompson Bridge Road, south of Virginia Circle, to Waffle House.
Cobb said Waffle House had wanted to have a location on the north side of Gainesville for awhile.
“That’s going to be a great spot, a great location,” Cobb said.
The new restaurant will be across from the shopping center featuring Walmart Neighborhood Market, Starbucks and Lanier Urgent Care.
The property is zoned for a restaurant without a drive-thru, Gainesville Planning Manager Matt Tate said.
“A land disturbance permit has been issued for a Waffle House,” Tate wrote in an email. “The building/architectural plan has not been approved but is under review.”
A line of houses is on the same side of the road north of where the restaurant is planned, with one house between the location and a Taco Bell to the south of the planned restaurant.
The new restaurant will be one of multiple locations in Hall County for Waffle House.
