Two people died and one person was seriously injured in a two-vehicle wreck in South Hall County late Saturday.

The drivers, Cynthia Farmer, 49, of Auburn, and Daisye Faust, 79, of Flowery Branch, were killed in the head-on collision, Georgia State Patrol Cpl. Auston Allen said.

Joseph Faust, 79, of Flowery Branch, was a passenger in Daisye Faust’s vehicle.

He was in serious but stable condition at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville, hospital spokeswoman Melissa Tymchuk said.

The wreck happened about 9:50 p.m. on Ga. 13/Atlanta Highway south of Carter Road, near Ga. 347/Lanier Islands Parkway

Farmer was driving a 1994 Dodge Caravan south on Ga. 13 and Daisye Faust was driving a 2013 Ford Edge SUV north on Ga. 13.

Authorities believe Farmer failed to keep her vehicle in the right lane, crossed the center line and struck the Fausts’ vehicle, Allen said.

“The area of impact was in the northbound lane,” he said. “The vehicles came to rest in the roadway, and no other objects or vehicles were struck.”

The state patrol doesn’t know what may have caused the wreck. As a matter of practice, blood samples were taken from both drivers, Allen said.
