A 20-year-old Truett-McConnell College student was discovered dead Thursday morning in her dorm room in Cleveland from what authorities believe were natural causes.

Jareda Boddie, 20, of Atlanta had been battling unspecified medical problems, White County Coroner Ricky Barrett said.

Barrett said a roommate of Boddie’s tried to rouse her from bed shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday and discovered she was unresponsive.

Boddie will undergo an autopsy but all indications point to natural causes, Barrett said.

In a statement, college officials said, "The Truett-McConnell College family has suffered the loss of one of its students today ... from what appears to be medically related causes."

"Please join us in prayer as we grieve the loss of a member of the college family," the statement read.

Barrett said Boddie was originally from Seattle before moving to Atlanta.
