Traffic light set at entry to new school, community center

Georgia Department of Transportation crews are installing a traffic signal at the entrance to the Frances Meadows Aquatic and Community Center and the new Gainesville Middle School.

Weather permitting, the DOT will begin testing the signal Thursday. If testing goes well, the signal will be up and running Aug. 5.

The Frances Meadows center opened in 2008. The new middle school is set to open this school year, with the Gainesville system starting classes on Aug. 11.

Both buildings are off Jesse Jewell Parkway and Community Way.
