Juan Resendiz of Court Makers Inc. pulls tape from freshly painted lines on the tennis courts . All the park's tennis courts received a new surface.

Freshly painted lines and resurfaced tennis courts are now open to the public in Gainesville.

Resurfacing of The City Park tennis courts has been completed ahead of schedule, and they will be open today.

“We do resurfacing and repainting every five years, more or less,” said Julie Butler Colombini, marketing manager for Gainesville Parks and Recreation.

The tennis courts closed Aug. 18 to allow the maintenance to be performed. It was expected to be completed in about 10 days. Crews finished the work last week, Colombini said, and the area is now dry for use.

The City Park complex hosts four tennis courts, along with three pavilions, two playgrounds, two Little League ballfields and two youth softball fields.

The complex is at 525 Prior St. and is open from 7 a.m. until dark, according to the city of Gainesville website. Tennis court rentals are $25 for four hours.
