A Chestatee Academy teacher submitted her resignation in lieu of termination after the Hall County Sheriff’s Office suspected her in a $6 million drug seizure. Karla Alvarez, 28, of Oakwood, had been on unpaid leave since her March 17 arrest, where she was charged with trafficking and possessing with the intent to distribute cocaine and heroin. The Hall County Board of Education accepted the resignation at its Monday meeting.
