Nothing says “emergency preparedness” quite like a winter weather jingle.

To help put Georgians in the winter weather preparation spirit, elementary schools across the state created winter weather jingles for a Ready Georgia contest.

Tadmore Elementary School in Hall County placed as a finalist in the Winter Weather Jingle

Video Contest.

Principal Robin Gower said one of the school’s fifth-grade teachers first received an email inviting her class to participate in the contest.

Gower said the videos have to be the original work of students and must illustrate the importance of being prepared.

“They planned what it would look like and they helped with lyrics,” Gower said. “Our computer teacher put it together, but they helped videotape and came up with all the ideas.”

In the video, Gower sings the jingle “I’ll be Prepared for Snow Days” to the tune of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”

Entries will be judged on originality and creativity, and one grand-prize-winning classroom will receive a pizza party.

The video was posted Tuesday on the Ready Georgia Facebook page. The contest is part of Georgia Emergency Management Agency’s Winter Weather Preparedness Week.
