Thanks to more than four inches of rain over the past two days, the level of Lake Lanier is edging closer to 1,073 feet above sea level — two feet above the full pool level of 1,071 feet.
Gainesville received only about another half an inch of rain on Wednesday, combined with the 3.65 inches of rain which fell in the area on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service’s automated gauge at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport.
Storms from the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida caused flooding problems throughout the metro Atlanta area, but none was reported in the Hall County area. Flood warnings, largely associated with rivers, remain in effect for much of central and eastern Georgia, according to Jessica Fieux, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.
The rain is expected to clear out for the weekend, though, Fieux said.
"It does look like a nice weekend," she said. "It should be sunny and highs around 70 with lows around 50."
Those temperatures are a bit above normal for this time of year, but Fieux it is expected to cool down a bit by early next week, with Tuesday’s high in the upper 50s.
