West Ridge Road in Gainesville and Wade Orr Road in South Hall have been targeted for resurfacing projects.

The Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded a $757,911 contract to Strickland and Sons Pipeline Inc. of Gainesville to perform the work, which will likely begin in March or April, said Teri Pope, Gainesville-based spokeswoman for the DOT.

The West Ridge work will take place in two phases, from Athens Street to E.E. Butler Parkway and then on to Queen City Parkway, or one mile.

Wade Orr will be resurfaced from Atlanta Highway to Hog Mountain Road, a 1.1-mile stretch.

The projects are set to be completed by June 30.

Local officials approached the DOT for money to do the work, Pope said.

The state is using federal stimulus money on the projects.
