Authorities have identified the suspect who the Georgia State Patrol said evaded a traffic stop, leading to both his vehicle and a state patrol officer’s car overturning in North Hall County.

William Matthew Hulsey, 19, was driving a red Chevrolet S-10 pickup Thursday afternoon on

Highland Road when a GSP officer attempted to execute a stop on one or more traffic violations, said Deputy Chad Mann, spokesman for the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office responded with assistance to search for Hulsey, who ran off after the crash at Hubert Stephens Road. Deputies and K-9 units searched the woods at a surrounding overlook at the North Hall High School campus, and GSP helicopters surveyed the area before Hulsey was captured.

The trooper suffered minor injuries and was treated at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Mann said.
