A motorcyclist killed Tuesday in South Hall when a truck veered out of control and struck him has been identified as William Tomei, 41, of Flowery Branch.

The Georgia State Patrol said a Ford F-550 was traveling on Friendship Road near Bogan Road at about 5 p.m. Tuesday when it left the road, ran onto the shoulder, then skidded back sideways across both lanes of traffic.

The driver of the motorcycle, who was traveling in the opposite lane of traffic, was struck by the truck and killed, the patrol said.

The name of the truck driver was not immediately released by the patrol on Wednesday.

The crash remains under investigation.
