Many children don’t have access to books at home, but every Georgia pre-kindergarten and kindergarten student will receive their own book to take home with the start of the school year. The initiative is organized by the Georgia Department of Education and partners of the Get Georgia Reading campaign, according to a release from the department. “Literacy is a key focus of my administration,” State School Superintendent Richard Woods said in the release.
