Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville plans to sponsor Military Awareness Day today.

The Army Aviation Battalion at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta will arrive in two Blackhawk helicopters, landing on the lacrosse field at 9 a.m. to kick off the public event.

Other displays include:

  • Army fire and wrecker trucks provided by the 802nd Ordnance Battalion based in Gainesville.
  • A climbing wall and Army Humvee provided by Army recruiters.
  • Army tanks and other World War II memorabilia.

Also, information tables will be set up by the Army National Guard and Army, Navy and Marines recruiting stations. The Riverside Military Raider Team and Rifle Team will have displays.

Veterans of Foreign Wars and the America Legion also will be at the free event.
