Soldier dies in wreck

A Mount Airy soldier who had recently returned from a deployment to Iraq was killed Saturday in a wreck in White County.

Adam Lovell, 21, died at Gwinnett Medical Center following injuries received in the one-car wreck on Ga. 254 near Mossy Creek Campground, said White County Coroner Ricky Barrett.

Lovell was a member of the U.S. Army National Guard and had been recently deployed to Iraq.

He was born in Hall County on Dec. 3, 1986, and his parents are Terry Cecil and Judy Coley Lovell of Mount Airy.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Alto Congregational Church. Burial will be in Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the U.S. Army National Guard.
