Hall County Sheriff’s deputies shot and killed two rabid animals in Hall County last week.

On Friday, in the River North Drive area of North Hall, a deputy killed a skunk acting strangely in an area known for previous rabid-skunk incidents. On Saturday, in the Mount Vernon Road area, a deputy also killed a raccoon acting strangely.

Both animals were shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab in Decatur.

On Monday, Gainesville-Hall Animal Control was advised that both animals tested positive for rabies.

Any abnormal animal activity should be reported to Gainesville-Hall Animal Control at 770-531-6830 or, during non-working hours, to Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812.

County residents owning pets that are not current on rabies vaccinations should take their pets to a veterinarian office immediately for vaccinations.
