A yearlong sewer expansion up Ga. 365/Cornelia Highway is finished a little late a hefty chunk under budget.

The project was initially scheduled to be finished at the end of January but was delayed by weather and changes to the design during construction. But even so, the project finished $400,000 under its $2.4 million budget, according to Hall County.

The project has been long discussed in Hall County and is expected to open significant opportunities for growth in East Hall, from the new Lanier Technical College campus to restaurant and retail development to housing.

The sewer expansion was funded by special purpose local option sales tax dollars. The new lines run from Abit Massey Way to north of Ga. 52, near Lula, according to the county.
