State Sen. Butch Miller addresses the crowd at Lakewood Baptist Church at the close of Friday’s CarFit event at the Gainesville church. Local seniors are getting a crash course in driver’s safety — even the governor. On Friday, the Georgia Mountain Regional Commission hosted the CarFit safety check at Lakewood Baptist Church. The program, which is its first year in the area, aims to give residents ages 55 and older a better idea of how they fit into their vehicles.
