Scissor lift tips over, hurts worker

A man working on a sewage project off Winder Highway was on a scissor lift when it tipped over and fell about 40 feet Thursday morning, said Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell.

The workplace accident occurred near the intersection of Winder Highway and Old Winder Highway in Braselton.

"The lift fell and he fell with it," Kimbrell said.

The man was conscious and alert but complaining of leg and chest pain when medics arrived shortly after 9:35 this morning.

It took emergency responders some time to get to the man because heavy rains created muddy conditions around the construction site, Kimbrell said. The man was placed in a stretcher basket and taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
