GAINESVILLE — Registration for children entering kindergarten in the Hall County school system next fall is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 31 through April 2 and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 3.

Parents should register their children at the school where the child will attend and bring the child with them.

Also, parents whose children aren’t enrolled in Hall County schools but will be entering first grade in the district next fall should register during this time.

Children entering kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1 to be enrolled, and children entering first grade must be 6 years old on or before Sept. 1 to be enrolled.

At registration, parents must present the child’s birth certificate, proof of current residence (such as a lease agreement or power bill) and Certificate of Immunization (Form 3231, Rev. 3-2007).

Parents can sign a waiver if they prefer not to give their child’s Social Security number.

The Certificate of Ear, Eye and Dental Examinations (Form 3300) is required upon a child entering school in August. Also, parents can expect a kindergarten teacher to administer a short school readiness test as part of enrollment.
