More than two dozen school buses at a Johnson High School parking lot were reportedly vandalized over the weekend, according to school officials.

Hall County Schools spokesman Gordon Higgins and director of transportation Clay Hobbs provided details Tuesday, June 11, regarding 26 vandalized buses in back parking lot of 29 buses.

Higgins said the vandalism happened in the lot adjacent to the baseball field.

“They took the extinguishers off the buses and sprayed them in the buses,” according to an email sent by Higgins.

Eight extinguishers are missing, and 18 of the 21 remaining will require recharging, Higgins said.

Officials estimated the cleanup time to be 40 hours.

Higgins said a report was filed with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

“The damage was primarily cosmetic, which will require fairly extensive clean-up,” Higgins said.
