Report shows Gainesville police boosting number of Hispanic officers on force

The Gainesville Police Department accreditation report shows the agency with its “highest level of minority employees.” The department received its re-accreditation award Tuesday at a mayor and council meeting from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. According to the report, there now are eight Hispanic sworn officers, which represents 9 percent of all sworn officers on the force.
