Cayla Floyd, 10, concentrates as she adds paint to the paint car Wednesday morning at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center. The 1973 Pontiac Ventura with a truck bed added serves as an ever-changing moving canvas for the summer art campers.
Some summer campers are taking part in a unique experience this year by painting and repainting an “art car.” Each week through Aug. 15, the Quinlan Visual Arts Center’s “Folk Art Funky Town” campers are putting their creative brushstrokes on the car, provided by Gainesville resident Allen McClure. “An art car is a vehicle that has had its appearance modified as an act of personal artistic expression,” according to a news release from the Quinlan.
