Update, Nov. 30: A Gainesville woman has died days after being hit by a car Friday, Nov. 28, on Thompson Bridge Road, police said.
Sherri Anderson, 59, allegedly stepped into the path of a GMC Yukon after 7 p.m. Friday near Etta Vista Circle, Gainesville Police Lt. Kevin Holbrook said.
“It’s believed that she was attempting to cross the road to go to the Chevron store there,” Holbrook said.
Holbrook said Anderson was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The lieutenant said the driver stopped and cooperated with the investigators.
“At this time, no charges are expected to be filed,” Holbrook said.
A woman was hit by a vehicle after 7 p.m. Friday on Thompson Bridge Road, police said.
Gainesville Police Lt. Kevin Holbrook said the person was conscious when safety workers arrived at the scene. He said Saturday she was in critical condition.
Holbrook said one lane northbound was blocked during the incident.
This is the fifth overall person struck by a vehicle in Gainesville in the past several weeks.
Santiago Ramirez suffered two cracks in his skull after being hit by a Ford F-150 Oct. 19 near his Buena Vista Circle home.
Three pedestrians were struck and killed by vehicles between Oct. 23 and Oct. 24.
According to police, 25-year-old David Tisdell was killed when he walked in front of an oncoming commercial vehicle on Thompson Bridge Road Oct. 23 for “unknown reasons.”
Jonathan Calvin Cross, 37, of Talmo was pronounced dead after being struck by a van around 11:50 p.m. Oct. 23 on Athens Highway.
Christy Ramsey, 39, was killed after being struck by two vehicles on Athens Street on Oct. 24.
