State Rep. Matt Dubnik, R-Gainesville, has been appointed secretary of the House Appropriations Committee, which focuses on writing the state’s budget.
Speaker of the House David Ralston, R-Blue Ridge, announced the appointment Thursday.
Dubnik said he was honored by the appointment.
“I’m very honored and flattered and humbled that Speaker Ralston would put his faith and trust in me for such a big role, and I’m just very excited to join this committee and join the leadership of this committee and keep doing what we need to do to move Georgia forward,” he said.
Dubnik said he is looking forward to becoming more involved in the state’s budget process.
“It’s just exciting to think about digging in. I’m a numbers guy to begin with, so to think about rolling up my sleeves and digging into a budget that is that large, that’s not a small task,” he said.
