Police seek 2 men from morning armed robbery

Gainesville - Gainesville police are looking for two men who tried to rob a business owner at gunpoint Friday morning.

Lt. Carol Martin said police responded at 7:50 a.m. to a report of an armed robbery at Pro-Tech Automotive, 807 Summit St.

The 62-year-old victim said two men approached him outside the business and demanded money. One of the men was armed with a handgun.

The victim entered the business, and the robbers followed.

After the victim swung at one of the suspects with an undisclosed weapon, the two ran off, police said.
Police dogs tracked the robbers’ scent to Kenwood Park, where the track was lost.

The robbers are described as two Hispanic males in their early 20s. One was described as about 6 feet, 2 inches tall, slender with a shaved head wearing a sweatsuit and tennis shoes. The other was described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall, stocky with a mustache, wearing a checked, button-up shirt.
