Gwinnett County Police investigators are looking for a man they say may have contributed to a fiery fatal crash early Sunday morning on Interstate 985.

Investigators said in a news release Wednesday evening that witnesses say Paul Keys III, 23, and 19-year-old brother Shawn, both of Flowery Branch, may have been racing a Hispanic man driving a Chevrolet pickup truck before the Keys’ Honda CRX lost control and went off the shoulder of the interstate.

Police responded to a call of a vehicle on fire in the woods off I-985 South, just inside the Gwinnett County line, at about 1:50 a.m. Sunday. The Honda was fully engulfed in flames, and Gwinnett Police said both men were dead when emergency responders arrived on the scene.

Police suspected that speed may have been a factor in the wreck.

Anyone with information about the wreck should contact the Gwinnett County Police Accident Investigation Unit at 770-338-7430, ext. 5673.
