In Our Community: Gainesville Police ride in Unity Tour
PoliceLights

The Gainesville Police Department participated in this year’s Police Unity Tour.

Officers Griggs Wall, Justin Seabolt, Cpl. Jessica Van and Sgt. Kevin Holbrook joined nearly 2,500 other law enforcement officers nationwide to honor those who have died in the line of duty.

Additionally, the Police Unity Tour raises funds for the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial and Museum.

Officers pedaled from Portsmouth, Va., to Washington, D.C., over three days in May. The nearly 300-mile trek is an emotional journey for all involved. Many of the participants have lost loved ones or are from agencies that have lost officers.

Officers participated in numerous events, including the ceremonial candlelight vigil, the formal dedication for the officers whose names were engraved on the Memorial Wall and musical tributes.

Members of Team Gainesville have raised more than $12,000 for this worthy cause. This is the ninth year that the Gainesville Police Department has participated.
