The Gainesville/Hall '96 Foundation’s next life was started Monday, 17 years after playing a large role in creating the 1996 Lake Lanier Olympic Center and maintaining the site’s legacy. The foundation board held its first meeting in years with some original members, such as Jim Mathis and Steve Gilliam, of the charitable organization. The group’s founders met with officials and members of the city of Gainesville, Hall County, the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce and the Lake Lanier Rowing Club and the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club.
