On Tuesday morning, a group of North Hall Middle School students gathered on campus to be inducted into Peelle's Posse.
Soon, they'll be sporting matching T-shirts and even sitting together at Sunday's Atlanta Falcons football game.
Their name may sound suspect, but it is anything but suspicious.
The group carries the name of Falcons tight end Justin Peelle and is a reward for students who have good grades and behavior.
"Peelle's Posse started around six years ago. A group of us got together and thought it would be nice to reward students for being good," said Peelle.
"It's a reward for them, but it's also an opportunity for parents to spend quality time with their kids."
Peelle started his posse and his former teammates started their own incentive programs. In addition to coming to personally deliver the tickets to the students, Peelle also paid for them and the students' T-shirts out of his own pocket.
As a member of the posse, 20 North Hall students were given two tickets to Sunday's game.
The recipients were selected randomly from the participants in the school's Renaissance Program.
According to North Hall principal Brad Brown, the program rewards students who have earned "academic excellence" with all A's or A's and B's.
For eighth-grader Alyx Kanady, the tickets were a welcome surprise - one that she plans to share with her football-viewing buddy.
"I'll probably ask my dad to go with me," Alyx said.
"We watch more college football, but we also watch the Falcons together a lot."
Growing up in California, Peelle said going to Oakland A's games with his dad was among his favorite youthful memories.
"Looking back, my parents made a lot of sacrifices for me. They both worked too much, but they made time for me," Peelle said.
"Back then, it was just about going to a baseball game. But now as a parent myself, I realize that it was about spending quality time together."
