North Hall road changes in store this week

Starting today, North Hall motorists will notice some changes in traffic flow on two well-traveled roads.

First, the lack of construction crews on Mount Vernon Road this morning doesn’t mean the resurfacing of that road from Thompson Bridge Road to Dahlonega Highway has finished.

Instead, crews have switched to working from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays, said Teri Pope, a Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman.

Also, Atmos Energy is performing maintenance work on natural gas lines attached to Thompson Bridge, which spans Lake Lanier on Ga. 60/Thompson Bridge Road.

As result, Atmos will close one of the two northbound lanes from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, with work possibly completed by Saturday, said spokesman Joel Ames.
