New business aims to help those with disabilities gain independence

Sometimes the talents and skills of people with disabilities are overlooked, but one new Gainesville nonprofit aims to change that with a business centered around their abilities.Marty and Randy Owens, founders of Our Neighbor Inc., created another nonprofit called Randy and Friends Inc. earlier this year.Randy and Friends Inc. has grown and has moved into a building at 869 Main St. in Gainesville. A grand opening celebration of The Rooster’s Perch will take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon today. Anyone who is interested in learning more about the organizations and what they offer is invited to attend.
