The Featherbone Communiversity in Gainesville is planning to honor master craftsmen at an event later this year and is beginning to accept nominations for the awards.The purpose of the Master Craftsman, Builders of America award, to be presented Nov. 1, is to honor tradespeople who have made a lasting impact in the area and to highlight those trades as great career opportunities for young people, according to a news release.Candidates must live in or have done work in Northeast Georgia. There will be 10 trade categories:— Sitework, including grading, pipe and utility, landscape, paving, etc.— Concrete worker, including form concrete, flatwork, precast, etc.— Mason, including all brick and block work, stone masonry and other masonry work— Ironworker/metalworker, including any structural or ornamental metal work— Carpenter, including rough carpentry and framing, trim carpentry and millwork— Finish tradesman, including drywall, flooring, paint or other finish trades— Plumber, including all plumbing, pipe fitting and related work— HVAC, including mechanical, sheet metal and related work— Electrician, including all construction-related electrical work (high or low voltage)— Residential builder, hands-on master builderThe deadline for nominations is Tuesday.
