The Hall County Sheriff’s Office is adding a civilian public information officer.

Derreck Booth, radio host and assistant director of news operations for Jacobs Media’s WDUN, will join the sheriff’s office in early April. He will be the first to hold such a role at the sheriff’s office and will serve alongside Lt. Scott Ware, who is the law enforcement public information officer.

“One of our goals is to continually improve the way we communicate and interact with the public,” Sheriff Gerald Couch said. “Derreck brings with him a wealth of experience in public communications, having worked as a broadcast journalist for nearly 20 years, and his familiarity and knowledge of the local community gives him a firm grasp on the issues we face as a department.”
