The annual National Night Out is designed to promote safety in communities throughout the U.S. Around 10 area law enforcement, fire and community agencies and organizations participated in this year’s event in sponsor Target’s parking lot Tuesday afternoon and evening in Gainesville. Children and adults saw and touched the Hall County sheriff’s SWAT vehicle and gear, fire trucks and police motorcycles, and talked with public servants as well as community service organization members such as Safe Kids of Gainesville and Hall County. They also tried to dunk Target employees in a dunking booth and ate hot dogs and hamburgers cooked by store employees.
